Cynicism

George Carlin once said, “Inside every cynical person, there is a disappointed idealist.” I’ve moved beyond idealist to disappointed idealist and am rushing headlong toward cynicism, at least as far as my medical condition goes.

I’m back from Houston and had hoped that my latest pancreatic problem would be resolved, but that didn’t happen. Once again, a doctor who, pre-procedure, had all the confidence in the world, was unable to follow through on his plans.

Next stop: full-blown surgery, 5 to 7 days in the hospital, and a 6-week recovery period. I have a hard time believing that even this will fix my obstinate, uncooperative pancreas.

We’ll see, I guess, but I don’t think I’ll ever be an innocent idealist again when it comes to medicine.

So sorry you are not feeling well. Try to think positive and focus on seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe you can make some pieces ahead of time that need some hand stitching or embellishments or how about a nice stack of books that you just haven't had time to read. Take care.

I'm so sorry about your pancreas issue. I do hope they can figure it out soon. Not sure what your diagnosis is, but pancreas issues are usually pretty stubborn.
I haven't been checking blogs as often as I'd like, but I have popped in periodically to see what you've been up to. Your work is always amazing and inspires me to get back to my sewing maching! I've been venturing off into painting on canvases and collaging and my first love is fabric. So I may just have to grab some fabric and play.
My favorite piece is the free motioned piece that you beaded on. LOVE it!
Sending best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

P.S.If you don't like your doctor or his diagnosis PLEASE find another one! I'm a huge advocate of patient's rights and WE have to stand up for ourselves and make doctors be accountable. (sorry for getting up on my soapbox--I'm a nurse or used to be before I became the budding artist that I've always wanted to be).
Anyhoo--please take care of yourself!
