Do you ever notice a strange phenomenon where time just disappears, and you can’t pinpoint the reason? I can’t figure out why I’m so “busy” and yet getting absolutely nothing done. What giant black hole is sucking my days away before I can get a grasp on them?
One consequence of this phenomenon is that I can’t get into a rhythm. I seem to be ricocheting from one task to another—a little pinch of time here, a dollop there, and then the day is over. Frankly, it’s driving me nuts.
Since I know blogging is one way to give some shape to my days, I thought it might be useful to get something—anything—down, just to have a record to show that I’m moving in SOME direction (whether it’s a positive direction remains to be seen).
So, here are some bits and pieces of my life at the moment. Exercises from Lyric Kinard’s Artist’s Toolbox class at Quilt U; on texture & shape:
Actual texture (the different “feels” of the fabric):
Visual texture (the visual way the fabric “represents” texture):
On shapes & lines, and the relative formality of them:
And finally, a piece in progress that came about from the above:
Finally, a helpful tip that most everyone else probably knows about: Do you use Google Reader? I just discovered this as a way to keep up with the blogs I like to read and I LOVE it! It pulls all the latest posts from my favorite blogs into one, easy-to-peruse list. I use Google Reader because I use gmail, and they are tied together. There are probably other readers out there that are just as handy.

Looks like a fun class! I have taken many QU classes.
Great piece! And yes I do use Google Reader - I just jumped over here over from Google Reader. I am still learning though how to use it well.
