What I do is after all the blocks are done, I measure each one, find the smallest and trim each one to match the smallest block measurement. Then I proceed as usual, LOL! I'm not sure where I lose those 1/4-1/2 inches--I really try to be careful and precise. I don't strive for perfection---I just want to love my quilt, no matter how "off" it may turn out, LOL! I do medieval re-enacting and we have the garb police, too! They are always checking to make sure we use period fabrics, stitches, fasteners, patterns.
